Nashville Jazz workshop will be leaving the Neuhoff site with hopes to relocate somewhere along Jefferson Street.  This will be for a couple of reasons:

1) The club and classrooms would have to be shuttered for a few years while the portion of the site where they currently sit is razed and rebuilt.  They simply could not stay in business if they were closed for that long.

2) Being on Jefferson Street will allow them to get back to some of the jazz roots of Nashville that flourished in that area from the early 1900s to the early '70s.

3) This will also allow them some room to expand, as they have been starting to run out of space at the current locale.  They would like to double from their current 3,800 sq. ft.

Developer Jim Irwin is being helpful with assistance in their relocation efforts.

Jim Irwin has now purchased an additional 6 acres of land adjacent to the Neuhoff plant site for another $26.25 million.  This now gives them a total of 15.2 acres for the massive project.  This land had previously been held by another Atlanta developer, TPA, for the Germantown Union development at 1324 Second Ave. North in the vacant Goodwill Industries warehouses.  Jim Irwin says his plans for the new land will be very similar to what was in the works for Germantown Union (2016 plans showed 400,000 sq. ft. of office/commercial, food hall, a hotel, and grocery).

"We think the scope and scale of what is already approved … is about right," Irwin said. "We felt that it was a strategic move to acquire this additional property so we could enlarge our district out to Second Avenue, which is obviously one of the main thoroughfares through Germantown. That way, by seamlessly designing and constructing everything together, we believe we can really expand on our thesis of creating a really wonderful destination that’s walkable and has a really neat campus environment."
