Okay, I just had a huge Dollar Sign ad appear when I checked this site.  I clicked the X in the upper right corner and it was an ad bought through Google.  No way to opt out.  The only options were "Already purchased item" "No longer interested in item" and maybe one more option, "Repetative" perhaps?

I posted this almost a year and a half ago, but got no response then...so thought I'd resurrect this question:  Anyone know what happened to the NWA forum on UrbanPlanet?  It seems like it COMPLETELY DIED in 2019.  In fact, I am the last person to post a comment over there.  Very strange...it was so active for a long time.  It makes me wonder where that activity migrated (to Reddit maybe?).

I didn’t know where to put this given that this is in West Memphis, but drove by what is obviously a new casino/hotel under construction at Southland in West Memphis.  Clearly this is going to be the tallest building in Arkansas outside of Little Rock.  It looks to be at 20 stories so far, and I’m unsure what height is planned.  Pretty shocking to see this the other day!

p.s.  I may “cross-post” this in the Arkansas forum (though I’m unsure how much activity there is in that forum).

It is supposed to be 20 stories tall.  Not sure what the height will be, but will be tallest building outside of LR, and top 10 tallest in the state.

Was in Little Rock downtown for the first time last week last visit over 10 years plus ago.  Downtown looks great.  Your riverfront your parks, new towers, new mixed used projects etc.  Here are some of my photos.  Even toured your Old Capitol (been to the current one on my last trip years ago)  I thought your downtown was very vibrant and liked all the sculptures along the river.

Complete reconstruction of the I-30 bridge and is it a widening too?  I am guessing so.

That First Security mixed use building was interesting.  Hotel, office space and apartments/condos in the same building.  I thought your downtown was very clean too and the locals friendly.  After being in a very rainy Memphis and Nashville the day before it was great to see Carolina blue skies okay Arkansas blue skies.

Thank you for the compliments!  We're glad you enjoyed your trip to our fair city - like a lot of places I suppose, it's experienced quite the rejuvenation over the past 20 years honestly.  It's a MUCH more urban, vibrant city than it was at the close of the 20th century.  Nice photos, and safe travels!

p.s.  Where are you from (Carolina I presume?)?

Charlotte.  Was driving to Dallas.  and I stopped by the Little Rock Central High National Historical Site the visitors center was closed.  Thought the high school was very nice looking and restoration of that Mobil gas station was impressive.    And it had been about 20 years since I was in Little Rock.

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Little Rock. Downtown has definitely changed since the last time you were here. Yes. We are undergoing a widening of the freeway through downtown. Next time you are in the area spend a little time across the river in downtown North Little Rock, or what we call Argenta. It has gone through it’s own transformation.

Glad you enjoyed the downtown too.  I hope to visit Charlotte sometime soon, as I've only gotten to see the downtown from the airport.

General photos around the Little Rock area.  Went to the Big Dam Bridge which is a great park as is the nearby Two Rivers Park.  LR has a great system of trails and bikeways along the river.  Even caught the lock in action with 6 fishing boats rushing to get in and be lowered down the river.    Then a couple photos of downtown.  This past weekend.

Ate at Whole Hog BBQ and it was excellent!

Loved the look of that brick Victorian house what is it now looked like a private club or restaurant?

Why was 2nd Street rebuilt the way it was when all those involved knew the south side would be a park and the block before I-30 would be a park on both sides? Below are pictures of 2nd Street east of Cumberland and west of Cumberland.

East is made up of four lanes of traffic plus parking or a left turn lane.

West is made up of two lanes of traffic .

What blocks would you rather walk down?

That is pretty confounding, given the city's effort to put walkable areas on a "road diet" like what was recently announced for Markham/Kavanaugh at Stifft Station.

Little Rock also received funding to plan a road diet for Broadway Street between 17th and Roosevelt Rd.
