Travel observations and new developments of other cities and countries

Would be cool to see a new tallest in Texas, but why is Austin suddenly getting so many ugly (IMHO) proposals?  Looks like an artificial leg!  Seriously, no offense to people with artificial legs, but for a building!?!? This one looks like a fairly bland building with a 1970s style brutalist lobby/street level was plopped on top of one of those attempts at "cool" in architecture with sloping glass sides... all plopped on top of a converted early 20th century warehouse that had previously been "blessed" with a garden penthouse. Oh... and all set at an angle atop the converted warehouse just to make sure everyone knows that it's "edgy".   Wow!  Just wow!!

How realistic are these proposals in a city like LA, where we've been told lots of times lately that people want to leave?  To my real point here, these buildings look like they're built on a core tower and "hang" from it (a'la James Polk Tower).  To our architects and engineers here, if this has proven to be a flawed design in Nashville (on solid rock) then how good will this be on the quake-prone ground of SoCal?

I don't know what it is about that building, but it just doesn't strike me as looking like a thousand footer in any of the renderings I've seen of it.

Right. Its "height" is broken up with the various sections and virtually no vertical design elements.  I'm not sure what I just wrote here, but dang!  Reading it back I sure did impress myself  :tw_glasses:

It might be 1000ft , but it’s not pretty to look at. Looks “ thrown together “ hopefully it comes out better then the rendering

If it does become the tallest in Texas I'll bet that Houston will try to build something taller at some point, they've had the tallest in Texas for about 40 years now and this new one isn't that much taller!
