I'll never understand why, with vast swaths of literally empty desert on which to develop projects inland, these high wealth nations like UAE and Bahrain choose to destroy their coastline and coastal reefs for these absurd, cartoonish vanity projects that'll probably be mostly abandoned in fifty years.  I mean, they look cool in a picture, but they're pretty much the epitome of unsustainability.

I'm one of Memphis' biggest advocates, and it will always have my heart, but...man does downtown need some new construction. Hopefully the Grand Hyatt at One Beale will help.
