The Tribune East Tower in Chicago has risen from the ashes and is out to bid for general contractors. At 102 floors and 1,442 feet, it will fall just eight feet shy of Willis Tower. The 1.3 million square feet have undergone some revisions increasing hotel keys from 200 to 250 and reducing parking from 687 to 426. I have looked at similar ideas that have been around for years and I just wish that somebody would really give it a try on a small scale project to see how it works. It wouldn't need the costly infrastructure that a light rail would require and it seems plausible.

This is the part two to my Las Vegas trip. All the casinos were so cool to see and each had a unique style.

I will be traveling a bit this coming month, I am going to Orlando for the weekend and then going to Charlotte the following weekend, and then for the entire month of April (and first week of may) I will be traveling to Norway, England and Ireland (mainly England and Ireland to see friends and family). I will make sure to upload all the photos of my trip. Next year I am moving to London for graduate school as well.

The Signia (Hilton brand) is set to top out in Atlanta. At 453 feet, it is the tallest ground up hotel built in the city in almost 40 years and will be the tallest building on Atlanta's west side. It sits next door to the Mercedes Benz Stadium and will offer 975 rooms and will certainly add to the skyline (one of my favorite features of any project). Images courtesy Urbanize-Atlanta.

Some photos of downtown Tampa as I’m here for a few days.

Nashville does not want to end up like Tampa as this area has 3 million people with a mediocre airport, no public transportation whatsoever aside from a few bus routes, and high unemployment. That being said it’s nicer to visit though just not to live in.

Lived in the Tampa area for 19 years, before moving to Middle Tennessee 16 years ago. Was never really impressed with Florida whatsoever, and I’m definitely not a fan of the big sandbar now. Still have family living in the Tampa area, so I visit often but never warm up to the place.

Tampa and Orlando are both nice cities but not enough infrastructure to keep up with the growth, same with Miami which is currently my home.

However Miami is growing at an incredible rate based on what I have seen and the entire city feels like it’s under construction. It’s growing faster than any other city I have seen in the United States

I have to respectfully disagree. I currently live in Tampa. I'm from Nashville, but have lived in Atlanta, Charleston and now Tampa within the past 5 years.

The Tampa metro does not have a high unemployment rate. US national unemployment = 3.9%. Tampa metro = 2.6%. Nashville metro = 2.7%.

Regarding the infrastructure, yes I-4 to Orlando is a cluster. You have two major metropolitan, tourist, and convention cities within an hour and a half of each other with only 3 lanes each way, with no mass transit.

Tampa does have toll roads which gives options to folks traveling north or south. One thing I will say is that FL and it's cities take really good care of both the interstates and city roads. They are paved, lighted street signs, signs that tell you which intersection is ahead, and pedestrian cross walks on major roads that require motororist to stop.

Plus interstates aren't trashy (SC was the worst with litter) and a lot of the exit and on ramps are landscaped and well maintained... Something I wish TN would do more of.

There are more than a "few" bus routes, plus there is a free trolley system downtown. The bus network actually operate nearly 500 buses, service more than 9000 transit stops, and provide rides to nearly 28 million passengers each year in Tampa Bay.

FL may not be for everyone, but it's kind of one sided to make statements with providing data to back it up.
