The name 'Windy City' comes from the tendency of Chicago's politicians to be long winded, not the weather.

If anyone's interested in a great read about turn of the century (20th) Chicago, I highly recommended checking out The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. Has some incredibly well-researched history around the great Chicago architects, businessmen, and politicians of the era and the 1893 World's Exposition, woven together with a crime thriller.

Took these photos in Austin last week and the city is booming for sure.  Including a 66 story building this one http://www.6xguadalupe.com/

Apple's 10,000 job new campus is under construction in the far north suburbs.  Last photo of the cranes.

I haven't been in Austin in nearly a decade. Those new tall towers look great.The future came quickly there.  Utterly amazing! A great city and the one I hope Nashville will continue to model itself after. Even the CO River reminds me of the Cumberland in those shots.

Having lived there in the 70s and 80s, I can guarantee you that it took a long, LONG time for Chicago to arrive at having some places like this along their river.

The Carew Tower is gorgeous and the view from the observation level is so amazing. Lots to appreciate in Cincy!

Been inside the lobby... and amazing. They don't build them like that anymore.
