Thank you for asking. One of the joys of UP is that, for the most part, we are quite good at avoiding ad hominem attacks.

What I would suggest we have a challenge with is the temptation for some of our members to try and dictate what we may and may not post.

One of our newer posters found it anathema that I made sport of the VMC project. Because I’ve seen first hand the damage that can occur when these poorly planned projects fail (see Tradition Towers or the whole ‘Mingos /Expo Center Hotel fiascos, to name two), I firmly believe we would be remiss if we treated VMC like just another legit project. (As we know from Bungalower, the city’s chief planner, who’s supposed to remain objective, has already questioned its viability.) A good strategy at UP seemed to be to joke about it, not unlike the ongoing 7-Eleven gag that highlighted the problems we have with attracting retail downtown.

Nevertheless, because a member objected, I went to great lengths to reduce my comments on VMC.

For whatever reason, despite my best efforts, the same poster all of a sudden posted another broadside at me when the next VMC update hit, even though I had said nothing.

Further, while some of our group who are the first to tell me what I may post, said nothing in regard to that attack.

That’s fine. Obviously, my 13 years at attempting to provide background on both the good and bad of what’s going on here has become unappreciated by our online community.

As a result, since I am apparently the problem, am seeking out another forum where my efforts may be more in sync with others. SSC Orlando, of course, has been mostly dead for several years, so my posts will hopefully offend no one.

I trust that everyone at UP Orlando will carry on and I remind everyone that the Sentinel’s tagline on the masthead is as true now as ever: “‘Tis a privilege to live in Central Florida”. Best wishes to all!

Well I'll just throw out there that, while I've frequently disagreed with you and have been annoyed by some of your political posts in non-political threads, I do think you've contributed A TON to this forum and hope you reconsider. I don't think you're the problem, someone just got annoyed by something you did... that always happens in life though, and I think you should just make it not a big deal. If I noticed it, I would have defended you (although I did just very quickly look and didn't see it, and I stopped following that thread so much because of the route that it turned). I hope you reconsider, I don't think there is a better forum out there then this one, and I do greatly appreciate you bringing your insight to this forum.

I’m pleased to report the fellow poster with whom I had a disagreement sent a very nice note and we were able to resolve things amicably. As a result, I am pleased to be back with our splendid UP chatters and Neo’s technology runs circles around the other guys.
