It's interesting how Fidelity is expanding in our downtown due to the lack of space and tight quarters @ its current headquarters! One would think that instead of taking up sooo much land to build small towers, I think they should just build a tall tower and maybe combine all the different sections/divisions under one tower. After all, they're building an 8 story office tower and a 13 story office tower almost next to each other. Why don't they just build like a 30 - 40 story tower instead and save the land for other purposes or sell it ot other people and a tower of that size would definitely add to Jacksonville's growing & impressive skyline.

Fidelity has a masterplan, which you can probably find in other threads. There won't be any other tall office towers. Also the 13 floor tower is not being built by Fidelity, it is an outside investment group.

The reason no other tall towers will be built is because Jacksonville has a significant oversupply of office space. In fact, people need to realize how amazing it is that we are getting another 8 floor and 13 floor office tower. The demand, quite frankly, is very weak.

I hope that a domino effect will be created with an increase in downtown living. Hopefully, the increase in population will lead to more demand of office space in the area and a strong entertaiment district.

I think our best hope for more office demand is more companies relocating to the Jax area. And when they move here, let's hope they set up shop in downtown, not in Southside.
