If someone can pull this tower off on this lot and its location I say go for it and the city should approve no problem.   2nd photo The lot is where the brick building  in seen on the other side of the bridge.

IMO, this concept is for land banking purposes. It will pay off if/when the Silver Line gets built. The entire ADM plant might be up for grabs at that point.

So potentially this Tower Site would be TOD zoning and literally like a block from the Silver Line if they both (Train & Tower) get built.  I think they’ll get this approved through City Council and then sell it (Land & Development Rights) to another once/if the Silverline begins construction

That was my first thought as well.  Though it does give Charlotte a potential opportunity to get its own Gate Tower Building:

Cancellation would imply it was a reality to begin with, it was not. It was to drum up interest in the developer, thats about it.

Because it's completely separated from every other area, doesn't add anything to any existing neighborhoods, and moves touring acts from other venues to the hidden corner.

I live close by and enjoy being able to walk there.

Not suggesting removing Elmwood cemetery but sometimes walking through there (great walk btw) Ive envisioned what it would be like if it were a giant park connecting the music factory with the rest of fourth ward. 
 

When Gateway station comes to fruition and all those lots along N Smith st get developed and if the ADM mill goes away, the future light rail stop. Lot of ifs lol but the area could be transformed someday.
 

Also, always thought this gravel lot would be perfect for an uptown top golf before the university one was announced. Right off the highway where they like to build for visibility reasons and would have killer skyline views.

Wonder if Drive Shack will ever come to town to compete with Top Golf (Raleigh will have both soon). Maybe they could set up there.

They own the new puttery concept that opened in South End. I don’t really think there is a reason for a Drive Shack in Charlotte as it doesn’t offer anything different than what Topgolf already does and they already have the market secured.
