Kannapolis has indeed done a nice job rebounding from the close of Pillowtex. However they haven't done a good job at all with connection the neighborhood's just outside of "the loop" with those inside if it. It's just a bizarre scene to see those architecturally beautiful, mammoth brick buildings just plopped in what is basically a field.

Basically I'm saying Kannapolis needs to connect these neighborhood's in a way that provides a  seemless transition between them.

The exception would be where the loop and West C. St intersect.

Article from Friday's Independent-Tribune newspaper of a new center at Kannapolis Parkway and Rogers Lake Drive.  Noticed the sign myself over the weekend.....

No 3

A new grocery store at Kellswater Bridge. Several of you reported that a sign for Lowe’s Foods has gone up on the corner of Kannapolis Parkway and Rogers Lake Road.

MPV Properties is developing a 25-acre site there adjacent to the Kellswater Bridge development. Eventually there is expected to be about a 1,000 residential units in that development.

Right now Lowe’s is the only thing we know that is going in the development. It appears the shopping center will have two other buildings.

Signs have gone up on the corner indicating there will be a Lowe’s Foods grocery store in the development.

From MPV Properties

The plans show eight outparcels surrounding the Lowe’s center. They range from 1.09 acres to 2.66 acres. The 2.66-acre piece is on the corner.

The plan also shows the future Northwest Cabarrus High School on the opposite side of Kannapolis Parkway.

Surprised Harris Teeter didn't jump on that site. I drive that way occasionally and what's with those townhomes actoss from the new Lowes? The blue is horrid imo.

I had heard Harris Teeter was interested but I guess they never pulled the trigger.

I am always glad to hear of these types of openings throughout the communities in the Charlotte metro area, especially the smaller towns such as Landis which seems to be undergoing a revitalization of it's downtown similar to the bustling business districts of it's adjacent neighbors of China Grove and Kannapolis.  Unique, locally owned retailers, I feel is the catalyst to bring vitality to downtown!

HHHunt Kannapolis Parkway

Kannapolis approved a rezoning request in April 2022 from developer HHHunt for an 18.7-acre site on Kannapolis Parkway. The developer plans to build a 277-unit apartment complex there.

Months after securing a rezoning approval, a Virginia-based developer has purchased Kannapolis land for a new apartment project.

In multiple purchases during December and January, HHHunt acquired the 18.7-acre project site for Abberly Edge, a 277-unit apartment complex. The developer, under the name Abberly Edge LLC, paid nearly $4.7 million for the land, according to Cabarrus County real estate records.
