Some downtown development news from a Triad city that doesn't see a lot of downtown development.

 

Lexington is getting a new 3 story apartment building downtown. 12 apartments.

 

Thomas H. Hughes is the architect and is partnering Warford Partners

New courthouse addition too.  There's a lot of other stuff going on uptown as well.  New brewery beside Bull City Ciderworks, old buildings being renovated into apartments and commercial space, still

Just an FYI to anyone from the Lexington area.  FNB plans to demolish the 5 story glass building in downtown Lexington and replace it with a small, 4800 SF addition with 4 drivethru bays.   There's very little the City can do to save the building but if enough people call into the City and FNB to voice their concerns maybe we can get a better development than what is proposed.  Please call the City's managers office and voice you concerns.  If they direct you to Business and Community Development say no, i want the managers office to know how disappointing this is.  Please also contact the Mayor and City Council.   Thank you.

^^^^ why could not the excess space in the upper floors be rented out  for small offices or something.  seems like a waste to flatten this building and for a drive through location with 4 lanes??

They could call it the Lexington Entrepreneurial center or something and culivate business and banking relationships with the tenants.

I agree. I think it's the tallest office building in downtown Lexington. They can get creative with it. Its a shame its going to be demolished.

Downtown Lexington drive bys today and of course lunch at the world famous Lexington BBQ. 

1. old courthouse  2. this is a building according to the city planner that they want to tear down.    They should keep it and rent out the space even to local nonprofits or a coworking space. 

3. unique building forget the history of it   4. new additions and renovations to the county courthouse.

then lunch!
