Trolley Service could be coming to downtown Greensboro

Might want to clarify that it's a trolley bus, not a trolley on tracks.  Still great to have a service that is there to help support small businesses and to bring more people into town.

If there was ever an appropriate place for a streetcar its downtown Greensboro. Two lines, one connecting A&T and UNCG, the other connecting Golden Gate to I 85 would totally transform the city.

I think its about  baby steps first. The rubber tire trolley will be free to passengers. If ridership is great I think you'll see more conversation down the road about fixed streetcar lines which does more to encourage development along the lines. A downtown rail streetcar system would also likely connect downtown with the Coliseum and Koury Convention Center.

I think for a rubber tire trolley it needs to look like a vintage streetcar.  For a streetcar system it needs to be more modern like a light rail car.

 

If Greensboro ever gets a downtown streetcar system  I think the cars should look more like this.

 

When it comes to rubber tire trolleys I don't think they should look modern because it would just look like a typical bus. These kind of rubber tire trolleys have a cool factor .
