This project is more or less breaking news.  Here is a paywall protected Austin Business Journal story:  Article.

Here is the site plan filing:  Site plan application

This is a 40-story office tower being designed by Gensler (like many other Austin towers).  The exact height including the substantial mechanical screen is not listed on the elevations.  But based on the listed roof height it appears to be ~615'.

Here are the elevations from the site plan drawing posted for AULCC.  (AULCC is a mandatory City of Austin meeting about utilities for the project.):

To my surprise, voters approved the massive convention center expansion this week.  That means the site of this proposed tower is in the path of the expansion.  One of the later CC expansion phases includes two privately developed towers, but not at this location.  So it'll be interesting to see if the developer and City incorporate this project into the expansion plans or if the tower plans are cancelled.

Here's a newer rendering courtesy of one of the developers.  This one could be starting soon.  There was a recent license filing with the City for two Luffing cranes, and that tends to indicate that a project is close to starting.  This is also all office. and i don't know if there has been any pre-leasing.

Five FAA permits have been filed for the building.  They indicate that this one has had a bump in height up to supertall status.  This would be the 3rd announced supertall.  Here's one of the permits showing a 1,072' height:

Here's a rendering of the 616' height.

The FAA filings indicating that this had become a supertall were filed in error.  The new FAA filings have it as 603'.  The approved elevations have it as 590', and that is the height I am going with.  I will no longer be updating this project since it's not at least 600' tall.  Plus it's all office, and financing has dried up for speculative office towers.
