this is really big deal,  It sounds like it could be a computer chip plant which would be great.  Many of the new chip plants are in Arizona and Texas both states with a lot less water than NC. f

I wonder what Siler City will look like in a few decades.  It's pretty far from both Raleigh and Greensboro to benefit from either of those cities, but the Wolfspeed plant will only be like 10 minutes away, plus US 421 which runs right past it is a future interstate.  I rode through downtown Siler City about a month ago and noticed a few new businesses as well as several rehab projects going on.  For how small the city is, there is a decent grid pattern downtown and a lot of empty lots, especially along the train tracks.  Definitely don't anticipate it blowing up like Kannapolis has outside of Charlotte, but if its downtown can build on its momentum it could definitely be more than just an exit ramp sign.

Well, using eastern Chatham as a point of reference, the county seems to have embraced a suburban sprawl, rapid growth plan. After a decade or two of maddening cookie-cutter development near the highways, the town will begin to look inward and slowly rehab and attempt to build out its core. Similar to what Cary, Apex and Fuquay are doing now. Love to be wrong, but Siler City being closer to the GSO's "anything goes" type of growth/planning, I'm not hopeful. Chatham will be fun to watch though because if all these econ dev projects play out with Toyota possibly adding auto assembly to the battery plant, the boom with be atomic.

Aunt Bea aka Frances Bavier  would roll over.   1800 new jobs coming to Siler City and the plant started construction TODAY. 

How it will change Siler City  this will provide some upward mobility for locals.

another large community coming to Pittsboro.

""Reeves Farm, a roughly 500-acre mixed-use community, received rezoning approval from the Pittsboro Board of Commissioners last week. Initial plans for the project call for more than 1,500 homes and a variety of restaurants, grocery stores, entertainment spots, trails and more.

Edward Holmes Jr., Carter Keller, and Buddy Keller (Carter's father), who are active developers in the Greater Triangle, in December purchased 494 acres for nearly $19.6 million. The farmland had belonged to the Reeves family for years and sits on the west side of Pittsboro between U.S. Highway 64 Business and Alston Chapel Road.""

Yes very interesting.  I hope it does better than Celebration their first community in Florida.
