500 room hotel + Office/Residential Tower

It would look taller but not that tall. The scale is way off. We are talking ten stories, not 20-30 stories as depicted even from that angle in the rendering. The scaling is dramatically off.

I've already contacted the city, and relayed everyone's concerns about the rendering scale problem. They intend to form a committee to study the problem. Heads will likely roll.

Dang, they are going to form a committee to study the problem of an off-scale render of 2 hypothetical buildings...interesting. Maybe they were pretty serious about those general designs they released.

TBJ now saying this project has been shelved due to the ongoing economic crises spurred on by the Coronavirus.  That sucks!

""Documents show the city is willing to commit up to $75 million toward "public-serving elements of the hotel" — such as infrastructure work. But the city will need to get approval from the state's Local Government Commission to issue debt to finance the commitment.

To keep the project moving forward, City Council has approved an agreement that would reimburse the hotel developer up to $495,000 for pre-construction work if the city is unable to keep its funding commitment.

The hotel is expected to open in 2027.  City documents say the total development cost is currently estimated to be approximately $314.1 million.""

Supposed to be 27 stories and 550 rooms. 

Plus the convention center is being expanded from the same article:

""On the same topic, the years-long effort to expand the Raleigh Convention Center has reached another milestone.

The center announced Wednesday that Clancy & Theys Construction Company, Skanska and D.A. Everett Construction Group will serve as the project's construction manager in a joint venture. They will work with international architecture firm TVS and Ratio Design of Raleigh.

The expansion will add 500,000 square feet of space to the convention center and involves relocating the Red Hat Amphitheater to make room for the project. The project is expected to wrap up in 2028.

The estimated cost is $387.5 million.""

Better look at the whole hotel as soon in the initial render. The design is subject to change as the developer receives input from the city.

it looks like it flairs out at the top Charlotte has an office tower like that now Truist Tower that flairs out towards the top floors.  

If those windows are to scale they are getting bigger on the corners as the tower rises.
