GvilleSC 403 Report post Posted February 6, 2020 Nice to know a little bit more about this hotel! Kimpton will be a nice addition to the downtown landscape. I hope they can land that brewery they envision(ed) for the retail space.

Exile 151 Report post Posted February 6, 2020 Not many developable parcels left on Rhett. That little street's on the cutting edge.
SVL 579 Report post Posted February 7, 2020 (edited) What is the status of the Rhett Street streetscape project? It would be nice to do along with all these developments. I'd also like to see some more retail sprinkled in which appears to be included with this hotel and The McClaren. gman430 9044 Report post Posted July 29, 2020 (edited) Construction is expected to start at the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. The anticipated opening date is March 2022 according to Ron Vlasic, CEO of Hostmark Hospitality Group. The hotel will bring more than 200 jobs to the area. The Kimpton will have 170 rooms and four restaurants. The projected cost will be around $50 million according to Vlasic. gman430 9044 Report post Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) Welp..they’ve got a month or so to start construction according to their timeline. I highly doubt this one moves forward at all due to Covid-19 and an already over supply of hotel rooms downtown. I assume it must be residential (?). I hope it is within the same language as the previous design, as I thought that was rather fitting for the West End. Of course, until it is submitted for approval, don't bet the farm on it.

Great -- the condo market downtown right now seems quite hot. Unless the market gets flooded, it seems to bode well for the conference center residential tower to actually happen. gman430 9044 Report post Posted April 6 Any new info on this?
vicupstate 710 Report post Posted April 6 This project is indeed coming back to life. Hotel rooms will be reduced from 170 to 130 but rooms are larger than before. 20-25 condos are now in the project which is why two more floors have been added. The street level design and tenants have not changed [Coffee shop, Event space, two restaurants ] and the rooftop restaurant/garden is also still in place. The condos will face Rhett only. Hotel rooms will face Markley only. The new design will go to DRB in May. The developer said the hotel occupancy in Greenville for the last 30-60 days has been very encouraging. 5
gman430 9044 Report post Posted April 17 (edited) Not much different going off the new renderings I have received. Just taller with pretty much all glass on the top two floors. The rooftop amenities appear to still be there. Eight floors in the front along Markley and nine in the back along Rhett. The brick and windows on the lower floors is still there and the same for the most part. Glass balconies on the corner of Main and Markley have been added.
