Seattle

Atlanta

Washington

Miami

Chicago

New York City

I know I'm going to be yelled at for ranking NYC and Chicago at the bottom, but to me they're not that attractive. New York is a skyscraper puke-hole and Chicago isn't much better.

Well, here goes what I've seen:

Chicago from all directions

NYC

Philly

Seattle

Boston

Hotlanta from some angles

LA- forget about it!- IMO

Then,

Vancouver, BC from angles

Portland, OR- because it's not dominating, just a nice city and makes you feel good!

Not sure if the original list was the only list to choose from, so forgive me, I live outside the lines :) .

Numbers 3 and 4 could flip flop. Numbers 7 and 8 could flip flop. What does DC's skyline look like anyway?

Chicago has, undeniably, the most beautiful skyline. The lake, the harbor, then Grant Park, full of trees with the city behind is breathtaking. The positioning of the tallest buildings is wonderful. The placement of the new Trump tower is perfect.

In the one above, you can see Georgetown and Key Bridge in the foreground, the Kennedy Center off to the right, and many government buildings around the Capitol and the Washington Monument.

It is incredibly difficult to get a good view of DC for a couple of reasons:

1. Because of the height restriction (which I consider a good thing) there are no skyskrapers that stand out to make an amazing skyline

2. There are many trees around the city and also again b/c of the height restriction many buildings are similar heights

3. Again because of the height restirction, it's very hard to find a vantage point from which to take a good photograph

NYC skyline a "Puke-hole"!? You're funny. Have you ever seen NYC or Chicago? Seattle's nice, but c'mon! He said "puke-hole"!

Why would anyone want to rank them near the bottom?

They have two of the best skylines in in the world. Sure NYC could use a little more color in the skyline, but it as so many good ones to look at. Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper, and it lives up to the name well. It has a wonderful and very pretty skyline for a city of its size.

My list is pure, personal aesthetics...

New York and Chicago (Tie. They both have some of the most memorable and unique skyscrapers in the world)

Los Angeles (Surprise! - I never would have ranked it in the top ten even ten years ago, but the setting - maybe it's the valley smog :D - often recalls a great Romantic city)

Boston (From the harbor it is breathtaking.)

The next group (in no particular order) is very memorable mostly for the quality of the architecture OR the setting OR the general aesthetics of the composition:

Philadelphia (Big, Beautiful towers. And the classic PSFS tower is unmatched)

Minneapolis (Great, classic, dense pyramidal structure with 3 big towers by 3 big designers)

Seattle (How can you not love the mountains and Puget Sound?)

Dallas (Space-Age City rising right out of the plains)

Honolulu (Yeah, right, you might say, but seeing a city of skyscrapers 2,300 miles from nowhere standing below Diamond Head gives it major props...)
