Moscow kaleidoscope: past, present & future

Very nice pictures,and buildings too.

I like many other kids in the United States was fed a pretty steady stream of propaganda of the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics, and Russia in particular as being a drab, boring, depressing place. The propaganda was never really mean spirited, sort of like goofing on your unrefined country cousin. One commercial I remember acutely was I think a Wendy's commercial. It was a fashion show in Russia with runway models, the models were the stereotypical Russian women-hard looking,250 lbs, could probably tear a bear apart. They were all wearing the same drab clothing. Basically the commercial was that choice was good and at Wendy's you get a lot of choices in how you want your food done.

Then one day I was looking through an old encyclopedia from the 1960's,I came upon either the USSR or Moscow so I decided to check it out,I then came across a photo like the last one posted, but a little different,it was in the same station. I couldn't believe how nice the station looked, especially compared to the New York stations of the 1980's which looked like a hell hole, which have since been totally cleaned up,but let's face it-one station even cleaned looked like it was made for utility in mind ,the other looked like it was made with love in mind. After seeing that I started changing my opinion on Russia, not the people though,I always liked the people no matter what during the cold war, after all they helped us out in WWII
