From what I can guess is that this storm started about a mile south of me and 5 miles west of JC Tune based on my experiance last night. I had a lot of heavy wind and hail prior to it hitting Nashville and that is when my power went out.

My power was out for about 5 hours until I knew what happened in Nashville.

Anyone want to guesstimate the damage estimate just in Nashville. I would guess at least 1 billion maybe more as couple of the  large apartment buildings may have to come down and be rebuilt. There is no telling how many aircraft were destroyed at Tune but that can really run the numbers up.

We have not gotten a clear idea of the damage of what has happened in Donelson and Hermitage either.

Vista Germantown will likely need to be rebuilt. Unsure of the others, they don’t appear to have been damaged nearly as bad.

I was working in the second to top floor of the B of A (now Philips) buildings in '98 when the tornado hit the building.  I looked out the window to check the weather and looked up in to the funnel of the tornado as it was passing over the building.  As I ran to the hallway for safety, I could smell the moist outside air as most of the windows on the other side of the building were blown out or damaged.

I was doing some routine legal audit work for HCA (what was called Columbia-HCA at the time).  I parked in the lot across the RR tracks from our building. They had recently finished the walkway over to the lot. When I looked out from that vantage point, I saw the building just to the west of the lot was completely collapsed.  The building just to the east of the lot had a hole from its west side through its east side... the north & south walls and roof were still standing. It was a large 2-3 story warehouse... I believe I remember that it was of cinder block construction.

Today Nashville and central Tennessee is Grace Under Pressure (as the late, great Neil Peart of Rush would say).

If you would like to donate time, go to Hands On Nashville:

If you would like to donate funds to a clearinghouse agency that will get them to where most needed locally, go to The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee:

I work over in one of the warehouse buildings adjacent to the new Amazon worksite.  From what my boss told me, our building sustained roof damage along with many windows being blown out.  At least it is still standing.  The new warehouse to our south was destroyed along with half of the warehouse adjacent to our building.  This is all just north of the Under Armour warehouse.  Thankfully this happened at 1am and not 1pm when the buildings would have been full.

I was next door on the stage door level of TPAC, but deep inside. Didn’t know anything was going on until the power went out. Everyone was rushed to a rehearsal studio in the basement until an all clear was announced. (Symphony and ballet were rehearsing for Swan Lake, so all those folks, a few from the opera, and state office workers, all huddled down in the basement-those lower levels are truly built like bunkers! I felt very safe.)

Was the magnitude of the storm ever stated officially? It looks like at least an F3 if not more.

Hoping Nashville recovers quickly. It has so much potential as a city.

Likely a strong F3 or low end F4 from some of the info a few meteorologists put on Twitter, debris swept almost 20,000ft into the atmosphere. There likely won’t be an official announcement for a day or two at least.

Germantown, one of my favorite Nashville neighborhoods, took a big hit. I don't want to drive over there and get in the way, but would like to know about damage, especially on 5th, 6th, and 7th avenues between Madison and Monroe. How did places like Tempered Chocolate, Germantown Cafe, Cathedral of the Assumption. Monell's, Germantown Inn,  the houses at the corners of 6th and Monroe, the former Mad Platter building, and the houses at 1315 and 1317 5th Avenue fare?

The church with the large steeple at the corner of 7th and Monroe has issues. The structure that the  steeple sits is leaning so it is off limits to my understanding.  I do know the historic house that sits on the corner of 7th and Jefferson I think, was pretty much destroyed.
