Looks like there is finally movement on this site.  I believe it will be a Springhill Suites, reported to be 10 stories tall.  This is the latest rendering I've seen.

Lot has been cleared.

I hope these and the other projects go forward with no delays. These are very tough times, especially in the hospitality industry.

This hotel is not moving forward...however the site will be rezoned to 40 stories for potentially a better project on this site.

Raleigh needs to stop balking at the 40 story developments. Too many parcels are being wasted on 10ish story, quick dollar developments. Wake County is quickly running out of land, and land is one thing that we can not make more of.

Precisely. The city is starting to wake up to this reality. That's why you're seeing so many rezoning proposals on the table and getting approved. Just a few years ago this would have not been happening at such rapid pace, if at all.

I still wish the city of Raleigh had a big urban zone that did not even require any rezonings similar to Charlotte's UMUD zoning that lets towers fly as high as they want.
