Looking at above pictures, I started drifting off into a daydream. Thinking that deep hole could be a future subway station! … but then I snapped out of it, this is Nashville… no innovative mass transit here.

Dude it's the foundation needed to support the narrow building and parking garage.

Maybe if we dig a little further we won't need to worry about light rail... we can just use Shanghai's Metro!

Photos really do not do this hole justice. Walked by today and damn is it down there haha. Couldn't snap a photo because of a flurry of activity removing larger diggers from the site, but it is a mighty impressive hole.

This should help illustrate why the center is so low. The elevator and egress core is located here and needs a deeper foundation. 52' down to the bottom of the egress core.

This is impressive, the big take away from these pictures is the ability to see the scope of the rock that Nashville sits upon! Just solid rock, I really don’t see much of a dirt or clay layer. People from that sandbar state they call Florida would be in awe!!

Will they use the crane to pull the excavators out of that pit? Or does it become the diesel generator for the building - a la Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel?

I completely forgot about that book, but love it. No the excavators will be lifted out, similar to the video below.

Just curious, is there any reason the foundation seems to be moving at a seemingly slower pace then other counterparts. It’s seems NY with Pinnacles parking base has gone quicker. Is it due to rain issues with it being a true hole? Not my ball park or knowledge but curious
