Rufus 552 Report post Posted June 23, 2020 My new NC base (for family, not work lol) is now Wilmington, which has long been a city of interest to me. So, I thought I would start a business section for Wilmington, since it is slowly gaining a ton of steam with its economy. First is hometown mega corp, PPD which went public after years of being private. It's now listed at #641 on the F1000, with $4.031b in revenue. I would expect that to grow this year as well too. Interested to see what space they may need with this growth. Secondly is a $100m IPO being formed by Wilmington-based Cloud-financial nCino. This is all in addition to the port seeing some of the fastest growth nationally. @KJHburg not trying to steal your thunder! You're my Econ Dev inspiration on this forum lol.
KJHburg 67957 Report post Posted June 24, 2020 Wilmington which I get to once a year is booming so it will be good to have someone on the ground there. And there is a lot more business than tourism there the port, PPD, the fintech, manufacturing etc. Downtown is booming too with RiverPlace and new apartments. It is like a Charleston 10 years ago. So once you get there flood the site with photos too.
kermit 11945 Report post Posted June 25, 2020 The three racist WPD officers are now trending nationally. Not a good look. Race relations have always been Wilmington’s Achilles heel.

It's so interesting to know that before 1898 Wilmington was a Black majority city, and even had a prosperous freed-slave population before the massive 1898 Massacre

rancenc 2781 Report post Posted July 31, 2020 Even though the profile from this August's edition of Business North Carolina is Coastal Carolina, I thought I would place it here on the Wilmington page. https://businessnc.com/community-close-up-coastal-north-carolina/
