Big expansion of very high paying jobs at Hitachi 500 new jobs averaging over $100k a year

https://www.wilmingtonbiz.com/technology/2022/10/21/ge_hitachi_plans_to_add_500_jobs_at_growing_castle_hayne_campus/23791

""A jolt of jobs and investment is coming to GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy campus in Castle Hayne.

The company plans to expand its operation at 3901 Castle Hayne Road by about 500 jobs in the next five years, according to an announcement Friday afternoon. The jobs have an average salary of $131,000.

Additionally, officials ceremonially broke ground Friday on a new $200 million fuel facility at the site.

The new employees, said Jay Wileman, GEH president and CEO, will support the future of advanced nuclear growth, including the commercial deployment of the BWRX-300 small modular reactor.

“These new, high-paying jobs will position us to lead the nuclear energy industry into the future, help customers meet climate goals and have significant impact on the region’s economy,” said Wileman, who also noted that GEH has hired more than 250 people just this year.

Global Nuclear Fuel-Americas (GNF-A), a GE-led joint venture, and TerraPower, a Bill Gates-founded nuclear innovation company, also announced an agreement to build the Natrium Fuel Facility at the Castle Hayne plant.""

This is a big deal the New Hanover County has attracted 4 major projects most expansions with 1000 plus new jobs at higher than county averages.

""The incentives offered by the county and city to scale the project are one of four deals approved earlier in the winter.

Announced in September, Live Oak Bank, a.k.a Project Buckeye, will invest $25 million to build a fourth building on its Tiburon Drive campus to accommodate at least 204 new jobs in the cloud-based banking industry. Locally, New Hanover County is chipping in $300,000 and the City of Wilmington approved $200,000 over five years.

Savannah, Georgia’s Port City Logistics — known as “Project Speed” — will invest $16 million to construct a high velocity transload facility in Wilmington. The county approved paying $67,500 over five years, with the city signing off on $45,000 over five years.

Freight brokerage firm MegaCorp Logistics (Project Transit) will increase its workforce by 300 jobs, projected to have an $18.9 million impact. The city approved paying $40,000 annually, while the county will dole out $60,000 a year over five years.

All four projects are expected to bring 1,000 jobs total, $110 million in payroll and over $125 million in capital investments to the county. Funds are not paid upfront, but are received when the companies follow through with their commitment of job creation and prove to the state employment commission it has established the positions."""

Netflix's hit series "Outer Banks" set in NC's OBX but filmed repeatedly in Charleston SC is now going to film more in Wilmington (at least they are getting closer)

https://portcitydaily.com/arts-and-culture/2023/06/09/netflixs-season-4-of-outer-banks-to-film-this-summer-in-greater-wilmington-area/

I say Wilmington should be the full time host and they admit how hard it is to film on the beaches in the Charleston area.
