NCPA October 4, 2021

Centene Corp. will pay more than $71.2 million to settle allegations from Illinois and Arkansas that a PBM subsidiary submitted inaccurate bills and failed to disclose discounts. The company will pay more than $56 million in two installments to Illinois and $15.2 million to Arkansas. The lawsuits stemmed from allegations that Envolve, Centene's PBM subsidiary, was overpaid by state Medicaid programs. Envolve allegedly used inaccurate reimbursement requests that inflated fees, according to an announcement of the settlement. In June, Centene settled a similar suit with the state of Ohio for $88.3 million and with Mississippi for $55 million, even though Mississippi had not yet filed a suit.

On WFAE Charlotte Talks interview with Tony Mecia, he mentioned Centene is researching using an autonomous shuttle between the light rail and their new campus.  This would effectively connect the Centene campus to the university campus as well. I don't think I've seen this noted elsewhere on the thread, but I found it very interesting.

Here are progress photos:

Great info. This is a nice project that isn't discussed much because of the location.  Design reminds me a bit of The Line but with better parking.  Assume HQ will move here shortly after construction is completed (could definitely be wrong).

Aw man, can someone tell me why this doesn’t belong in the bad news thread?  The CEO was a massive Charlotte booster, had purchased a condo here, and this doesn’t strike me as a voluntary exit.

"In deal with activist" to me means it 100% involuntary.  Hopefully the massively expensive and nearly constructed campus in Charlotte is enough of an anchor.

Fascinating Architecture! Honestly one of the most unique office buildings in Charlotte I think.

Centene Campus from the greenway a first time view for me.  This is a beautiful setting.  You can really see the magnitude of this campus. I sure hope they employ more than the 3000 they promised they talked at one time about 6000 people employed here.

Great pics and I love the setting and unique architecture. Assume it will be at least 6,000 once they move the headquarters here from St Louis;).

In 2019, there was a press release that Centene was moving forward with a regional HQ north of Sacramento, CA, with a campus size of 5,000.  Isn't this just another one of its regional hubs, or is there something else to suggest that this hub presages the global HQ relocation?

I was just kidding (see the emoji). The former CEO seemed to love it here but I have no reason to believe the headquarters is moving (aside from the obvious desirability advantages of Charlotte over St Louis).

^^^ those construction videos and drone shots are great.   The architect is the one who put the Georgia flag in the fly through video and they have an office in Charlotte!

Like the SPXflow jack video which that is of course a Charlotte based company too.

You can see the greenway good in that drone video where I walked today.   The winter is the best time to see it once the trees bloom forth it will be hidden again.

Wasn't just you.  There have been other references to a Centene HQ relocation to Charlotte in these threads.  Probably tamped down a bit since the CEO change.

I think this: even with the CEO change I dont think they will be growing anymore in St Louis.  They cancelled their 2nd tower there.  Depending on who the new CEO is.  I thought they chose one but maybe not.
