Good question. I should know this, but I don’t recall hearing who that was.  Anyone else know?

I did a fast search and only get the articles announcing the project, which don’t list it, I don’t have a Bizsense account, it may be listed there. Probably a big, national GC, I think Hitt has worked for them in the past, they came up from a project they did for Costar in the past.

Someone told  me groundbreaking is pushed back to January , originally was supposed to be September but it is going to happen.

Bummer on the delay but it is what it is. I guess we’ll know when files have been submitted, etc. so once that happens, it’ll be close.

No longer need to sleep to see your dreams my friend!

Love it!! Well said, my friend! :tw_thumbsup::tw_smile:

What I REALLY can't wait for is to see views of the construction on the TV8 weather cams. I can see losing track of time watching construction. Seeing this tower rise is going to be epic.

I will say it was fun having a camera for the dominion headquarters, that was a lot of fun to watch get build.

That makes me wonder if there will be a dedicated, specific camera set up for the CoStar tower - maybe more than one view? For example, I could see one on that big parking garage just north of the site.

I’d hope so, that may depend on the GC, most likely they’ll use them, so I’d expect at least one if not more. Still hope to find out who the GC is, that will tell us a lot.

For some reason, I was thinking that the GCs for this are the same as DE: Clayco and Hourigan.  I could be way off, but I thought that’s what I remember…maybe I’m thinking that just the architect was the same (Pickard Chilton).

Actually, I think you're correct about that. I recall reading where there was a common tie between the CoStar and Dominion towers - but I don't recall if it was the GC or the architect - but there was a connection somewhere in there.

The article I could read didn’t mention anything other than the common similarity using Pickard Chilton, that was from the RTD in a 2021 article,  I believe.

Man, surely some RBS article had that information in it. I don’t have a subscription, so I can’t check…but surely, right?

I think you're right - it was in the RTD article.

I just went back and found the December story in Richmond BizSense. This is what was posted in December:

The architect on the project is Pickard Chilton, the same firm that designed the new Dominion Energy office tower downtown. CoStar spokespeople said a general contractor has not yet been selected.

No doubt that has long-since changed. I just don't remember seeing it.

If a fence is going up in 2-3 weeks, there should be a permit for something, I guess civil or demo of some sort,  that permit may have something on it, isn’t there someone here on urban planet that can access them, works there, and can help out? Though demo and civil may just be the  owner and engineer not a GC listed yet.

I'm thinking that would be @whw53's bailiwick as he is our official permit office guru. :tw_thumbsup:
