Steinmart was in the 900's of the fortune 1000, so it would take them a while to become a fortune 500.

I'm just happy to see that the company is growing again. Steinmart's growth had really stagnated several years ago. Glad to see they are turning things around.

even if they were fortune 500, how would it help jax?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Some companies see a city with more F500 companies and they feel that the support industry would be better in those locations. By this I mean there will more likely be localized business to business companies instead of having to have things shipped in from far away.

Consider Delta making a new plant in Seattle or Boise, Id. There is more of a chance of parts manufacturers, labor companies, distributors, etc...in Seattle than in Boise because Seattle is more geared for airplane manufacturing with all the little support companies.

The same scenario works for for all types of business and not just mannufacturing companies.

Therefore, the more F500 you have, the more likely you can appeal to others because its a seemingly good business environment.
