It's such as waste to put offices on that site.....you got West End, Downtown and Sobro to build more office space.

It's been so exciting to watch Nashville grow like it has for the past 6 years since I moved to Cincinnati......it always gave me something to look forward to when I came back to visit...my brother, who's in real estate would take me on a grand tour just to see all the new developments.......but this  feels like a punch in the stomach.

Unless they've already got tenants lined up (please no!!) I wouldn't even build office space at this point. We don't know how the economy is going to play out over the next year or two given the uncertainties of the Pandemic and the fact that more people are working from home.

Hello Metro Planning Department, I'd like to file a complaint. This development does not fit the context of the area, as the buildings are far too small. We need more residents, more services, and more office space than this proposal provides. This development deprives us of shadows that we need to stay cool in the summer. This development is not dense enough to support carless or car-light lifestyles, and will increase traffic more than a development with more residential and retail space would. Finally, this is a terribly inefficient way to produce the property tax income that Nashville claims to need: we need more square footage to drive more Metro revenue.

Uh... wtf is this?  We waited all these years for this prime Beaman site to be sold and all we're getting out of it is some safe vanilla suburban office park looking crap?  This is the type of development I would have expected to see proposed for this site fifteen years ago.  But now?  What???  Do these developers not see the caliber of projects being proposed around them?  This better be undergoing some MAJOR changes.  As several folks have already said, it'd be one thing if this was short but provided a rich experience at street level.  But this is neither tall nor urban in it's design.  I am utterly flabbergasted by this.

I just don't understand how this one would work out for them financially...the configuration of the site is obviously incredibly wasteful and it can't possibly give the developer a proper return of investment, especially considering how much was spent to acquire it.

Completely agree. No idea how they could ever earn a proper rate of return on this site with this proposal. This has to be an inexperienced developer.

A couple weeks ago, I jokingly made a sarcastic remark , about this property being a hub for all those crazy transportainment vehicles. WOW … I wasn’t to far off!! This has kept me up all night, I’m so upset with this news. 
If at any time I wish for that magic 8 ball to be wrong , this is it!!

I'm curious if there's any chance that this is a corporate relocation and they're just building themselves a new HQ (at least regionally) and it's all very tight-lipped.  As others have mentioned, I just can't see the ROI on this for a private developer at the cost Beaman is surely charging them for the land.

Welcome to the forum TheSound. If that is the case, I would be onboard depending on who the relocation is. I would want it to be a very high profile company at that location. 

I know of some who are looking but would think they would be interested in other parts of town………..and would think they could have sites already picked out.

Welcome, TheSound . That’s a very good and logical idea! Never thought of it that way, sorta hope that’s the case, if it’s going to be short buildings then make it a MAJOR company with exceptional architecture.
