Tesla Lithium Cathode Plant in NC?

Watching the Battery day live event, Tesla has said they are going to build Localized Cathode plants at the Lithium Sources located above.

They also show material traveling distance for different stage. The majority of the 5k KM are LiOH. Which is a stage after lithium extraction but before cathode manufacturing. And the cathode traveling distance is very short. So cathode plant would be somewhere near their battery plant.
Given the distance, the Li icon on map might mean kings mountain lithium mine and processing plant. And shipping LiOH to cathode plant on west coast. Google map tells me the distance to fremont, CA is about 2700 mile or 4300km.

Tesla reached deal with Piedmont Lithium.

I actually think Tesla reaching this deal, and then opening a Cathode plant here could be one of the bigger pieces of news this year. This could result in a Giga-Factory and even car factory here in charlotte.

The location you pin pointed  seems like the old Kings Mountain mine.

From Piedmont Lithium website. It's to the north east of old mines. Did old mines got depleted?
