Two more big wins for President Biden today:

- Brittney Griner is coming home.
- President Biden will sign marriage equality bill into law today.

To achieve the necessary Republican votes (both Florida senators voted against - human rights aren’t important for Skeletor and Li’l Marco) it’s somewhat watered down from full protections, but the bill is a good start.

Just what we would have expected - the cretin who authored the “Don’t Say Gay” travesty has been indicted for defrauding the government. Skeletor would be proud!

Maybe our Republicans here can tell us why they insist on electing scoundrels?

UPDATE: The cretin has resigned. One down, so many to go before we can turn the GQP’s New Mississippi back into Florida.

‘On Fox News, Laura Ingraham and Kellyanne Conway blamed Walker’s loss on the fact that “a lot of people” at the “top of the Republican party” told voters not to vote early or by mail for the past few elections.

“It’s so amazing to watch these people suddenly start complaining about the consequences of their own actions,” Meyers mused. “You were Trump’s fiercest supporters when he was claiming mail-in voting led to fraud, and now you’re whining that the Republicans don’t vote by mail? Sorry, but you can’t complain about a neck bite after you open the door and invite in a vampire.”’

“It is now fair to say that the former president has cost Republicans political power in three election cycles -- 2018, 2020 and 2022”

Run, Cheetohead, Run!

Nixon was the last American politician to have a second act and looked how that turned out. Why are these messes always Republican?

We’ve discussed some about how the Biden administration’s new emphasis on antitrust regulation could make mergers less likely than they’ve been in decades, specifically with the Kroger/Albertsons and JetBlue/Spirit pairings.

We may learn more from the FTC’s attempt to stop a merger between Microsoft and video game maker Activision Blizzard. This one was something of a surprise to analysts, so stay tuned.

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema is going to become an independent. She apparently will continue to caucus with the Democrats so that still leaves us with a 51-49 majority (thanks, Cheetohead and Herschel!)

The best part of this will be that the party will now be freer to run a true Democrat in the 2024 primary. While Angus King (I-ME) and Bernie (Democratic Socialist-VT) engender the kind of loyalty from Democrats that keeps them secure in their seats, I think very few Arizonans of either party have the warm fuzzies about Sinema.

Meanwhile, Skeletor has decided to join a group of wackadoodle right-wing senators who have dubbed themselves “The Breakfast Club”. They plan to challenge their minority leader, The Turtle, wherever possible , thus fracturing the GQP even further. Rick is well on his way to being despised in the chamber even more than “Lyin’” Ted Cruz which is quite an accomplishment. All this means New Mississippi’s junior senator will accomplish exactly nothing so he’ll be free to concentrate on the grifting he does best.

I think this would be a good thing for the Democrats to try to pass before Republicans takes over the House. I think these numbers are very reasonable and would get bipartisan support. Currently the federal hourly wage is $7.25 and federal tipped wage is $2.13.

a lot of things need to be addressed because the value of the US Dollar is shrinking and has been.  it is not a good economic situation right now.

Do you just make this stuff up? The dollar right now is incredibly strong right now relative to other currencies (some say too strong):

https://internationalbanker.com/finance/will-the-dollar-keep-strengthening-into-2023/

From International Banker

“The US dollar is the strongest it's been for two decades, compared with other major currencies.

This means it's more expensive to buy dollars, and dollars buy more pounds, euros or yen.

This affects businesses and households across the world.

How strong is the dollar?

The dollar index (DXY) - which measures the US dollar against an average of six other major currencies, including the euro, pound and yen - has risen 15% in 2022.”

Two different issues. Domestically, what you get for a dollar is less and less (inflation). Against foreign currencies, the dollar is very strong.

Inflation is why the Fed is raising interest rates and it’s beginning to work. Also, prices on gas are now lower than before the war, used car prices are moderating as supply chain issues lessen and even rents, one of the worst culprits, are coming down in much of the country (sadly, only by minuscule amounts in the Orlando market, but nevertheless).

I noticed the regular prices on some grocery items on my latest Target run actually decreased - that hasn’t happened in a while.

I think an interesting Presidential ticket would be of two pariahs of their own parties. A Sinema/Cheney ticket. That's as straight down the middle as you can get.

I kinda like that idea myself, but the selfish "my way or the highway" partisans on both sides would never go for it.

The very idea of compromising with "those people"......  🙄

Hmmmmmph!!!!!  <_<

Oh my, a blast from the past. He had great hair!

On to Lowell Weickert and Prescott Bush!

But the folks that mattered from Connecticut were Paul Newman and Katharine Hepburn!

The lies are just piling up. First, “Four Seasons” Rudy had his law license suspended for his untruths in New York and now it looks like D.C. will follow suit.

Meanwhile, Cheetohead’s polls are tumbling.

Oh, the three MAGATs who tried to kidnap Michigan’s governor are on their way to jail, too.

So much winning!
