MARKHOLLIN appreciation thread

I don't usually start a new thread...but I just think we could all give a round of applause to markhollin for posting so many great photos every single morning.  Around 4am or so...I start looking for his posts, knowing he's going to have more goodies to show us.

This board wouldn't be half the board it is without his input.

Absolutely, Thank You Mark.

On this board, things have gotten so much better since Mark came on board as there is no way this board can be a one man show as I tried to do it all and it could not do it, so Mark is a huge asset.

It is even harder to get around and take photos these days as I use to do it while working a full time job and the projects were limited to the core mostly. Now they are spread all over the city with projects seemingly in every nook and cranny.

Sure appreciate the kudos, everyone.  I just realized yesterday that last weekend was  the 5th anniversary of me discovering this Urban Planet Nashville community.  Love the info we share, the Meet-Ups where we commiserate together, and all the friendships that have sprung forth.  : )

I am not appreciative at all. Because of @markhollin my productivity at work goes down to as little as 1-2%!!

I also start looking for the markhollin posts when I first log on everyday.  I always wonder how you get some of the shots you do and I can imagine you talking your way into nearby buildings that have a good vantage point from the top.  I'm also curious about what kind of camera you use and how long the zoom lens is that you use.  Thanks so much for your efforts, your work is truly appreciated by many people on this forum!

Much obliged, MontanaGuy.   I tend to do most of my shooting very early on  Saturdays and Sundays when many of the sites are uninhabited, thus allowing me some access to good angles.  As far as my camera, it's just an iPhone 6.  I'll be getting an updated iPhone this month, so quality should improve further.  : )

@markhollin, as evidenced by this thread, your photos are highly appreciated.  I would suggest that you keep a copy of all your photos and give that copy to some historical societies and governmental agencies that would appreciate this multi-year history in pictures.  Your work would be appreciated by future generations and storage technology would make this gift somewhat easy to execute.

Yes, I have them all categorized in my desktop (over 32,000 at this point).  Hopefully Urban Planet Nashville will remain open for many years to come.  I always view this site to be a living, day-by-day, week-by-week chronicle of all that is going on developmentally in Music City from about 2005 onward.  A great resource for any historian interested in what's happening in Nashville.

I will echo what everyone else has said about Mark, thanks for your work, dedication and professionalism at all times.  I have been to a couple of the meetings and you were always the first to say hi, introduce yourself and welcome me.  I appreciate the time and effort you put in as well as the accuracy in your posts.  I don't think I've ever read a post that was incorrect, exaggerated or negatively stated.  Thanks again.

Very kind of you to say, GreenHillsBoy.  Thanks.  We've got a great team, and are always looking to add more folks willing to contribute in different ways.  : )

I've said for years that Ron is the 1A and Mark is the 1B of the Nashville chapter of urbanplanet.org. And Ron, out of a show of humility and respect, will often ask me to rank Mark 1A, as Mark now does more on UP than anybody else (which is impressive considering the major contributions of Ron and Bob).

Mark has been with the group for about seven years now, and his impact has been monumental. When I recall the original days of the group when John (Doorman Poet), Ron, Bob, Stephen, Todd,  the late (and legendary) Dave and I would gather (starting in early 2005) ... hard to believe the group has come this far and stayed together for 16 years.

And how about a huge "thanks!" to T-Hog (Shay) for starting this thread. She is a star on this board.
