From what I gathered on Twitter it was the Melting Pot. The building containing Hooters is on fire.

I was at that exact same spot four days ago.  Crazy.  Hope nobody was hurt or killed.

Thank you for posting this.  Some great projects have been finished in spite of all the recent turbulence.  There were nearly 70 submissions to the Design Awards this year so to have 11 recognized means a lot to these firms.

Big news from the past year:

• Reed District general announcement made. Will be one of the largest developments in city history with $100 million purchase of 11 acres along Broadway by Hines Developers. Could include 1.5 million sq. ft. office space, 1,000 residential units, a 350 room hotel, and 150,000 sq. ft. of retail in at least 6 towers ranging from 19 to 37 stories
• RMR Group announces 17 acre development at 111 North 1st St. that could be 6 towers in 15-30 story range featuring 1 million sq. ft. office, 135,000 sq. ft. of retail, 1,425 residential units, and 640 hotel rooms
• 801 Church announced, 38 stories, 351 units
• Circle South will have 30 story/535,000 sq. ft. office tower and 34 story residential tower
• Street Lights is planning a 25-30 story/360 unit residential tower at 10th Ave. North across from Amazon Tower Two
• Gulch Union  complex will drop a 16 story hotel and add a 2nd 28 story residential  building
• Avalon Midtown announced, 25 stories, 310 units/hotel rooms, 50,000 sq. ft. office space, 15,000 sq. ft. retail space
• 127 Rosa Parks has been adjusted to 23 stories w/ 426 hotel rooms, 6,500 sq. ft. retail
• Cypress Real Estate to build possibly two 25 story towers at 10th Ave. South and Lea Ave. for 350,000 sq. ft. of office space and 400 residential units
• Albion residential tower will be 21 stories, 430 units, 30,000 sq. ft. office space, and 5,550 retail
• Gibson Residences announced, 21 stories, 380 units, 45,000 sq. ft. retail
• Parkway Towers (21 stories, 220,000 sq. ft. office space) will undergo a major facelift.
• 909 Division announced, 16 stories, 342 units, 214,000 sq. ft. office space
• Lincoln Financial announces intention for a 15 story mixed-use structure for 4012 Hillsboro Pike
• Federal Reserve Hotel announced, 12 stories on top of existing 4 story, 100 year old bank building at 226 3rd Ave. North
• Modera Gulch announced, 15 stories, 376 units, 20,000 sq. ft. of retail
• Airport Hilton will be 14 stories, 292 rooms, restaurants, and 8,000 sq. ft. ballroom
• Allegro Place announced for 12 stories, 205 senior housing units
• Corkdorks Cambria Suites Hotel announced at 10 stories, 159 rooms
• Lord & Liberty Hotel will be 9/10 stories with 80 rooms that will incorporate the 1895-era Geddes Firehouse
• Radisson Red Hotel announced as 7 story addition on top of existing 4 story building at 333 Union
• Belmont University announces Caldwell Hall dorm, 11 stories/606 beds
• Landings at River North announced with two 7 story residential buildings of 650 units, 83,000 sq. ft. office space, 33,000 sq. ft. retail, and 38,000 sq. ft. restaurant space
• Nashville Pottery & Pipe will be development of former 9 acre factory site in Cleveland Park that will feature a 12 story residential tower w/ 490 units, 8 story boutique hotel, and 155,000 sq. ft. office space
• Lee Beaman is selling his 11 acre site on Broadway in Midtown. Could be a massive new development across the street from the Reed District. Also selling 14 more acres at 2 other sites
• Vanderbilt Univ. finishes buying the 7 acres triangular space alongWest End and Natchez Trace East for future development.
• 26 hotels currently u.c.
• 25 hotels announced this year
• 10 hotels opened (20 in ’19, 15 in ’18, 9 in ’17, 5 in ’16)
• 36 additional office structures of 5 stories or less announced
• 139 multi-story residential developments announced with over 17,000 units
• Thousands more apartments/condos/homes underway in surrounding counties
• 7 projects each with price tag of more than $100 million finished this year (8 in 2019)
• 31 more projects each with price tag of $100 million+ currently underway (27 in 2019)
• 15 projects with $100+ million price tags announced this year
• Facebook building massive 1 million sq. ft. data center in Wilson County
• Amazon announced 5 more distribution centers including a 3 million sq. ft. site in Mt. Juliet
• 10,670 new jobs announced in various corporate relocations and expansions in Nashville area
• GM will make $2 billion investment in retooling Spring Hill plant for electric vehicles
• NASCAR will return to Fairgrounds Speedway and Nashville Super Speedway in Wilson County in 2021
• Indy Car Grand Prix races to happen downtown in Aug 6-8, 2021
• MLB Nashville group continues to grow
• Nashville SC had their debut game at Nissan Stadium inMarch with 59,000+ in attendance
• MLS Stadium (32,000 seats) is underway at the Fairgrounds
• Titans announce they will work with city for Nissan Stadium upgrades and Titan Village concept around the stadium
• Huge natural disasters (March tornado, May derecho, March-Dec. pandemic) created major issues with loss of life, illness, severe damage, and reduced revenue that caused slowdowns to development progress and announcements…and yet, Nashville is still growing at a tremendous pace!
