While no one was looking, this has risen quite a ways out of the ground.

The Roxboro at Venable Center drive by photos and this has really popped up. From Durham Freeway.  The Roxboro (venabledurham.com)

Lots of activity around the Venable Center.  It's crazy to think that most of these blocks were parking lots just a few years ago.  Long term, I wonder what the feasibility is of keeping the courthouse and detention center in their current locations, as they will be surrounded by hundreds of residents and multiple entertainment venues.  Also wonder if Mangum and Roxboro St can be narrowed, as both are far wider than they need to be (4 lanes wide in some spots) considering they only serve 12,000-13,500 cars a day (for comparison, 147 has just two lanes in each direction and serves between about 70,000 and 90,000 cars a day).

Didn't see a thread for this.   This could be another catalyst project for Durham and transformative for north Durham and even southern Granville.

The old Ramada Inn turned failed Duke Condo project turned failed boutique hotel by Graduate Hotels, is in the process of being demolished.  It appears everyone has given up at this point on trying to save the bones of this building and it's going to be razed for a 342 unit apartment complex and parking deck.  The design is being handled by CLINE Design on behalf of Alliance Residential out of Charlotte.
