RALNATIVE 725 Report post Posted January 21 (edited) This came out of nowhere. First time i've heard of this new tower. Sad to see the former home of Moonlight Pizza go. https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2021/01/20/raleigh-council-bloc83-heritage-properties-rezone.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_45&cx_artPos=0#cxrecs_s Edited January 21 by RALNATIVE
carolina1792 161 Report post Posted January 21 This is more or less the tower that was going to go where One Glenwood is currently located however anti-height city council at that time didn't make it possible so we got a 10 story tower and a huge parking lot/hotel by the wye instead. In hindsight, it's actually a good thing since there's one less distasteful parking pedestal towers on Hillsborough Street with inadequate screening. This yet to be named tower, due to the location, will be the most prominent tower on the Glenwood corridor when finished.
RALNATIVE 725 Report post Posted January 21 I would love to see a rendering that shows how this tower will integrate with the surrounding area.

Well since it's on Boylan and not Glenwood, how about calling it "Boylans's Highest"? Should help the neighbors down the street feel better about the obvious encroachment on their beautiful historic neighborhood.

Mostly of Boylan has already voiced their approval with stipulations of extremely parking screening. By design it will block some downtown street and parking lighting. The not-yet-announced phase IV will be even more aggressive with blocking light and noise pollution.
