Active lawsuit by residents from City Lights challenging the Overall Height Modification approval for both projects. I’m not a lawyer, so I could be misinterpreting what I’m seeing, but it looks like a hearing is scheduled for tomorrow according to the chancery court website.

Oh how I despise these idiots... 'waaa, i'm going to sue you because there will be a view of different buildings outside my window in a couple years'... HUH?!?  How the hell is this "case" even seeing the courtroom?

I hope the plaintiffs win their lawsuit because both the 500 2nd Ave and Park Place projects could use a much needed redesign.

Yes, it also says 30 stories and DTresident and I were talking about this yesterday and I think it is a massing of what is allowed for the site. That is 30 stories. That can be changes as we all know.

That's what I was thinking, Smeags... of course, I don't know much about that process, but this has all the marks of a full-court press by both developers.  Is this a push forward with all the force they can muster?  I'm not sure what the strategy is here, and it might be sheer coincidence, but I'd bet it's similar to an onslaught against the latest litigation.  It will also force the CL litigants to put all their money up now.  If that's the case, then perhaps each developer looks at the other project as a domino that directly affects them and that needs to be dealt with NOW.  Maybe not a "checkmate" move (yet), but a "show your cards" move. 

From what I've read thus far on this forum I'm now convinced the chancellor will dismiss the CL suit.

At least the people on the east side of CL will still have a view of whatever that crap is next to their building... looks like a gas station, a couple of small surface parking lots for one or two small stand-alone buildings.  Oh, and they can still get glimpses of the amphitheater and at least for a while the 4th of July fireworks.  Oh, and to the west they'll have beautiful views of several lovely new skyscrapers that will save them money on their AC bills in the summer.  Not bad really ...
