Midnight Diner and Uptown Cabaret properties have now been acquired by Riverside.  In total, 2.75 acres acquired for $20 million.

Plans: 800,000 square feet, 650 residential units, 50,000 square feet of retail.

Construction late 2022.

Morehead Square Drive to be configured to facilitate northbound traffic on to College Street, since College Street connector will be abandoned at the start of construction.

I think it will happen in the next year near the CTC quite a few vacant parking lots over there.

I assumed they'd just move the restaurant. It's just a giant mobile home with chrome.

Diners like Midnight and Mattie's are easily picked up and moved.  Just build a foundation, plumb it, and plop it down.

No it will be moved as others had said.  Easy to move.  a foundation with plumbing and drains then plop it down.  It will sprout up quicker than a waffle house.

I'm in on that.  Mobile restaurants and retail, sidewalk-adjacent and on the perimeter of all surface lots in Uptown.  Relegate parked cars to the interior of the block.  Merry Christmas everyone.

I would imagine now that the land deal has closed (on schedule) and with a tentative groundbreaking in less than a year, that an updated website and renderings will follow shortly - even in a matter of weeks.  Maybe @TheRealClayton has some more insight on a scheduled release date.  

I don't know if this has been discussed, but in the rendering below it looks like the office tower is on the right/further south with the residential building closer into downtown on the left. Most images I've seen of this project are a more cropped in version of the one below.

Lastly, this is being labeled as a three tower project; I'd assume the 650 residential units are split between two towers; I haven't seen anything mentioned but could there potentially be a hotel component included in the final buildout?

^^  Yes a residential tower flanking each side of the office tower.  One closer to where the diner sits and one residential tower closer to where the "club" sits with the taller office tower in the middle.   I still think they have a tenant in mind for the office tower as remember they said their "national clients" were leading them to Charlotte.   As I have pointed out one national client of theirs is Bank of America in Chicago.

anywhere I have heard from 500 to 600 feet or slightly more.  depending on how big they plan it as they themselves said min. 800,000 sq ft but it is larger it is taller.

I am grateful Charlotte is able to put up projects like this, but I wonder what they mean by this? From what I can tell, the design looks like it may be three box shaped buildings. Charlotte has Crowns, spires, handles,  and boxes in the skyline. The only attribute missing in Charlotte I feel is a dome building like the one in Winston Salem. The design is large/glassy buildings from what we can tell.

The full taller building kind of resembles The Independent in Austin, except that the boxes don't cantilever, they step inward. Facing Uptown and SouthEnd the facade alternates placement the height of the building 3 times. Each time it alternates the building steps in about 10-25 feet and creates terraces. Between the step ins there is 1 patio every 3 floors. The facade on the South Tryon side rises to about the 39th floor and then steps in the final 3. Along Morehead Square it rises 42 floors to the sky. It's a pretty cool building, hard to describe.

The website is actively being worked on and at Riverside's main website this project has moved from solely being in the "News" tab to their "Portfolio" tab; definitely looks like they are actively updating the portfolio description and renderings.  All of this has happened in the last 24 hours:

Looks a lot like a taller version of this that tapers as it goes up.

Sounds like the current iteration of the tower has 42 floors.
