TBH I won't be entirely upset if it goes away...

yeah, the architecture isn’t the greatest but I still think it will do great things for the downtown area. It will bring new residents and visitors who will no doubt spend money at the restaurants and retailers. It will help increase the city’s tax base also. The current buildings on site are doing nothing for downtown and the city except sitting there empty.

No argument about the positives of this project... but if a delay results in them rethinking parts of it to make a stronger project then I'm for it. I suspect, however, that they wouldn't have bought up all that land if they weren't going to do the work - but crazier things have happened.

A realtor heard it was on hold because of lack of parking. Clearly that can't be it, as a side parking garage as a must was never part of the plans. Apart from higher interest rates driving up costs and putting things on hold, I can't think of anything material that has changed since this was first announced? Even the much rumored stadium has become a publicly announced plan since then.

I assumed this was the project where the developer wasn’t happy with the homeless population??? :dontknow:

That's another rumor. But, again, from my perspective, has that situation changed drastically since they bought up the sites and proposed their plan? Granted, I work from the downtown area every day, and I haven't noticed such a change, yet perhaps it's -because- I work from downtown I haven't noticed the change,  like parents watching their children growing and not seeing the subtle changes that in time become major,

Coffee talk has it that Deli & Donuts didn't renew their lease because they weren't allowed to. In the article, they mentioned it was because they wanted to focus on catering. Not mutually exclusive categories, but if they weren't allowed to renew, may be that's a sign that work will begin soon. Take all of this with a grain of salt, or sugar, as it were. Coffee and salt might not be the best of pairs.

From speaking to another developer of another project, the three towers are still happening, just with a start date of, well, sometime within the next 12 months.

Apart from the domain of rumors, I imagine that the First Reading approval of the agreement with JDA for the baseball stadium (plus all else that it will bring) should provide a strong stimulus for this separate project also. A $400M investment in the downtown will make the area a much more desirable spot to live in, for those who prefer the urban side of things, at least.
