Would the plans for H&H also include the recently built Atrium OB/GYN office?

At this point southend alone is starting to rival skylines and development across other cities in the state if not already doing so but this… if even a fraction of these come to fruition southend will blow all cities in NC out of the water and perhaps even start challenging Raleigh’s downtown on its own. With Queensbridge, if it’s ~600ft tall that alone would give SouthEnd the tallest building between the two.

I know H&H is a goner.  Not sure about the Atrium building.

Totally agree, even outside of NC! Coming from the Midwest, it’s not even close to the hyper speed of what I have seen here in SouthEnd!

No, according to someone connected to this development.  Just H&H as far as South Blvd frontage.

I'm honestly not sure about Atherton Park. I've heard it discussed in deals, but its all office condos that need to be assembled.

I was thinking this recently too after poking around on Google Earth and street view. You can completely ignore Uptown and South End by itself still looks like the downtown of a small city by itself... maybe Asheville-sized. When all these upcoming projects happen it will be a mid-size downtown on its own.

I was recently in Boston and it was striking how they had their downtown, and then a string of very impressive skyscrapers in a line away from downtown (Back Bay). I wonder if Charlotte will start to look like that in the next 10-20 years... I would have no complaints as Boston is gorgeous. You can travel very far in certain directions and still be surrounded by high-rises.

Looks like they're about to close the sidewalk along East and move pedestrian traffic to a (shipping container) Habitrail. The same coming to the East Blvd side I wonder?

Yeah they have them all set up along South Blvd now. The container walkway isn’t open yet (you can still walk on the normal sidewalk), but I’m sure next week they will make the switch and expand the construction barrier.

Are they relocating to the office parcel and opening up space in the uptown tower?

they are the financial partner Barings is of the office tower I know not sure apartment Greystars apartment tower.

23 stories -  1 floor retail, 9 floor parking, 13 floors office 

400k sq ft of office space, about 13k sq ft of retail (one facing South and one facing the rail trail)

That is REALLY nice!  This is why I think that South End will have the second best skyline in NC after Uptown. 
 

Is the office component being built now or are they waiting for a tenant.

I believe they have entered into the permitting stage (Walgreen was already cleared).

I think they were looking for ~100k anchor tenant, but it's possible they've already secured one, or feel confident that they have enough interest.

They have started permitting, its gonna be called East South Crossing and Gensler is the architect

I'm not impressed with the parking deck screening. Otherwise, the building looks nice and I'm glad it does include some retail. I'm all for more retail on South and especially along the Rail Trail

I like the notches in it with the office balconies with fresh air being a major desire in office buildings post Covid.
