Durham YMCA Redevelopment - 27 story residential/11 story office/new YMCA

Durham on fire!  27 story residential tower and 11 story office tower going up on the site of the current YMCA.  If all goes according to plan, there will be three 25+ story towers rising in downtown Durham within three blocks of each other at the same time

Durham is becoming like SouthEnd in Charlotte.   It's really fantastic.

The major projects going on (or about to start) in downtown Durnham now include:

1.  Hines ATC;

2.  The redevelopment of the SouthBank Tower; and

3.  The YMCA site.

Am I missing any ?  (The police station project seems longer term since there's not even a developer yet.)

This great news warrants a shout out to these dudes.

25 story residential tower at Durham Centre and GeerHouse (I think part of this project goes up to 20 stories).

For GeerHouse, last I heard it was reduced to 15, from 18 originally. First phase was supposed to be 8 or 9 and is now 6 I think.

Where is the Geer House?   I don't recall that project.

Can we stop making statements like this? Why can't Durham just be "Durham is Booming?" Why do we need the comparison. 

Back on topic -- this is great for Durham. It's great to see the city finally get its skyscraper due.
