100% agreed.

If the Giarratana YMCA Tower is well underway smoothly this year, it will be a HUGE success. All signs point to it moving along relatively swiftly. But with all developments and skyscrapers, sometimes curve balls are thrown causing delays.

I predict this one gets going fast, and is "steel in the sky" by summertime.

Hope you are spot on, brother!

I will say some of the ones on the list may not happen and some of these could be very high-profile projects. Just be prepared for something to fall through.

As I stated above it was a matter of time and here is an article that sort of proves the case about companies starting to throw the gauntlet down.

The walls are closing in on corporate employees as major CEOs at Disney and Starbucks demand that workers start returning to the office (msn.com)

I do think that companies will change some of the benefits they offer in house as far as on-site childcare and other ways to keep employees coming into the office. I do think companies are going to start to get impatient with workers now.  If the economy turns south, then the ball is in the hands of the companies and not the workers. It is only a matter of time.

Other companies are going to follow suit with what Disney and Starbucks are doing. The banking industry has no choice but to keep workers at the office for the most part. There are several other industries that are that way now as well. The pendulum is about to swing back the other way.

And to your point, before this news blast, Elon Musk had been taking a beating about how he went about it, yet his actions are in line with your assertion.   Your points about companies doing more to entice folk to come in and your mentioning the banking industry reminded me of when I was  a youngster starting my professional career after college.  It was in the banking industry...early to mid nineties.  The company I worked for made it uber convenient to be at work.  I certainly understand why it did, yet that doesn't diminish the fact they did.  Child care...a separate facility on site on each campus to take care of little Timmy.  You drop him off...at work...and you pick him up...at work.  Like your button downs starched and pressed?  Bring them into the Gold Post at your location and pick them up in two days.  Like taking pictures?  Remember...early to mid nineties...drop the rolls at the Gold Post and we'll see you right back here (at work) to get them.   Hungry?  Every location had a working cafe with cook-to-order stations.  Let's eat...morning, noon, or night.  Need a greeting card for one of life's many events?  Come on over to the Gold Post.  You in between meal times and need a little something?  Come see us at the Fast Break.  The Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and the black and white shakes were to die for.  Working late?  Swing by the security desk and we'll escort you to your car if you'd like.  Like smoking?  Come to the smoke room...inside the building (again, early nineties).  Want some ice cream or need a knick-knack to give as a gift?  Head to the Gold Post.  Not feeling well?  Head to the nursing station.  Need to deposit your paycheck or one Aunt Lilly gave you for Christmas?  Come to the Gold Exchange.  Every location had one...a full service retail bank branch...exclusively for employees.  Need cash?  Hit one of the Gold Exchange ATM's throughout your building.  I'll stop there; you get the picture.  And that was in the nineties.

I wonder if the Ritz Carlton buildings are the ones that will fall through. It's been 12 to 15 months since they said the initial groundbreaking would take place.

That's what I'm afraid of and it's such an impressive development that it will be disappointing if it does.  Hopefully someone here might know the status of that project.

Right! My expectations for that project have been diminishing with each passing week. I think they’ve missed 2-3 announced start dates.

It would really really suck if The Ritz falls through, but, like the delay of the Edition hotel, there is ongoing infra projects that have caused delay. Maybe they’ve been slower than predicted, thus leading to The Ritz being delayed? TBH though, I just really don’t see a hotel of that stature announcing a project in a city that they aren’t gonna follow through with. Also there’s one project  in Knoxville that was slated for a November start that is just now starting, so hopefully now that it’s the new year and all, it will get started soon! And while we’re on the roundabout projects, have we heard any news on 800 Lea? Last I heard they had applied for various  permits right?

Ritz-Carlton didn't announce it. The developer did. Ritz-Carlton just franchises their name. It's up to the developer to get the hotel built.

It looks like KVB south is a difficult area to build towers. Outside of 805 Lea and Peabody Union, nada. The rest are just spinning their wheels.

I’d imagine the Congress Group would be moving on Second and Peabody already if not for the lawsuits.

It does seem that way, right? I'm sort of scratching my head wondering why the Ritz is so delayed.

But then again, I think it falls back on a combination of factors for that circle area, in terms of skyscraper development--the sewer upgrades are probably way behind schedule, and preventing any shovels in the ground on any project over there. Also, due to interest rate increases and the overall shakiness of the economy, developers might be happy to delay groundbreaking in that area for up to 1-2 years.

What's gonna be kind of fascinating to watch, and sort of funny, is if the Giarratana curved tower gets built before the Ritz, Circle South or any other developments in that immediate circle area.

Thanks, you made my day :)
