Triangle Parks and Greenways

Reviving this thread the old one is closed and archived.  The Triangle area has some of the best greenway systems in the country especially in Raleigh and Cary.  With this being the Year of the Trail here in NC explore local trails and greenways nearby.  You have 5 state parks in the greater Raleigh Durham areas not to mention extensive parks throughout the area.  Post your photos of your favorite trails this year.

Cary's Hemlock Bluffs Preserve.  Really a nice park with some mountain like features off Kildare Farm Rd.  Lots of hemlock trees usually found in western NC.

I believe that you love the beauty of the Triangle area more than the people that live here. LOL

Lets see between Raleigh and Cary you have 180 miles of paved greenway trails vs 65 miles or so in Charlotte.  Your parks are outstanding here and yes people who live in an area always think it is greener somewhere else.  There is a reason Wake County is growing at the rate it is.

I must say that i'm in love with Dix Park. Great location, great views of downtown, lots of open space for concerts and festivals, and great for just going for a walk or run.

heading to eastern NC stopped briefly at the Neuse River Greenway.  what a great greenway and over 27 miles long.  Did 2 short segments as a chunk of it was closed due to some sewer line construction.   This suspension bridge over the Neuse is great.    Then over to Anderson Point Park.  I like how you mark the lanes we need to do that more in Charlotte.

Took in 3 parks in the Durham Orange county area today.  Oconneechee Mountain state park and Eno River State park in Orange County today.  (Plus Duke Homestead State Historical Site) Great state parks right off I-85 including the highest peak in the Triangle area.
