Martha's Vineyard

[Cotuit]

I went to Martha's Vineyard last weekend for JawsFest. It was crazy, but I managed to see a bit of the island.

First up, Edgartown at the eastern end of the island:

The island turned itself into the fictional Amity Island of the movie for the weekend.

The 'Spielberg Cabin' where Steven and the other writers and producers spent their months on the island during filming. This was the party house last weekend.

Edgartown Town Hall becoming Amity Town Hall.

The Kelly House, where we were staying downtown.

The Harbormaster's. If you're a Jaws fan you might know this as where the 'Tiger Shark' scene was filmed.

A few shots of the "On-Time Ferry" so named because it has no schedule and therefore cannot be late. The ferry carries cars, bikes, and pedestrians across the harbor to Chappaquiddick Island.

The island has a pretty good bus system.

Next up, Oak Bluffs, one of the main entry points to the island, the other being nearby Vineyard Haven. We took the boat into Vineyard Haven, but left via Oak Bluffs.

Last, but not least, Menemsha. This is where Quint's shack was located in the movie, and you may recognize it as the scene where the Orca (the boat) heads out to hunt down the shark.

great pics! i saw a little bit of this on the news last week. also, i went to hyannis with my gf last week. i walked around while she was in with her account there. i noticed a sign for cotuit when we were on our way to hyannis. i finally know what your user name means! B)

It's 'long flat fields' in Wampanoag. It's the village I grew up in.
