JEDC

The JEDC wants to increase the number of downtown residents to 11,500, up from about 9,500 currently. The commission also hopes to bolster the number of jobs downtown, projecting the addition of 4,400 jobs by 2010.

That would bring the total number of employees downtown to 41,000. The JEDC expects downtown job growth to eventually outpace job creation countywide.

I'm confused, I always thought downtown had 60,000 workers and 2,000 residents.  What boundaries are they using to get 41,000 workers and 9,500 residents?

I second that thought.

11,500 seems to be a rather lofty goal, no pun intended, lol. Considering how incredibly slow projects move down the pipeline in this city, I think we'll be lucky to even reach 9,500. That's just my take. Someone, enlighten me.

They will definelty need to speed things up to match even the original goal. I also think we need a few more major projects to be announced real soon or it isn't gonna happen.
