the city was founded in 1909 , on sandy beaches north of Jaffa, by an organize group of European jews.

they decided to built the first Hebrew city in modern times as part of the zionist afort to built ajewish land. agriculture communities were already established then (early as 1870's) by zionists European jews. these new places added to the ancient jewish communities (Jerusalem Hebron Zefat Tiberious Jaffa Haifa and more )and to the Arab population.

acelectic various European style were used to build the city :neo classical Art Nouveau oriental and Bauhouse.

the city metro pop. today counts some 3 million people.
