The theater tour is supposed to be a lot of fun. It sells out every year...that's a testament to the tour's popularity.

I'd be going on it, except that I am giving the downtown tour this weekend. I suppose I could talk about a couple theaters...the tour is different everytime I give it, mostly because I don't use the cards they gave me to guide me through things. My tour only lasts about 2.5-3 hours, although I can push it to about 6 hours if you want to know everything that I know. LOL.

I just got back from the Dally.  Lots of fun...met lots of people.  I didn't run into very many people from this forum, though.  I guess you were all that the Big House.  :)

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

A bit off topic but I must post it, because it doesnt happen often...

Actually Allan, those of us with any dignity were at Spartan Stadium, East Lansing.

I'll be sure to ship my chello down to A^2 because a violin might be a bit small for 111,000 people.

Foundation to secure jazz festival's future

This is great news for the city. Detroit needs annual world class events like the Jazz Festival and the Electronic Music Festival to draw tourists to the city that can support and grow its hospitality industry. I mean the Super Bowl is great, but how often can we expect something like that? Travel plans are made far in advance and people need to know that these events will really happen and not be cancelled at the last minute for lack of funds. Annual events can be a huge economic stimulus and a good source of positive media exposure. Look what a two minute horse race has done for Louisville.

The Fourth Street Fair is coming fast though I don't know the date just yet. Usually around the middle of July. Good tunes, grassroots feel, great people.

DetroitBazaar and Detroit Style Pride also do monthly cleanups throughout the spring and summer- before Kwame made it "cool". If we're still wanted on these boards, we'll keep you all updated on what we know. We usually have our ears on the traintracks and know about some of the lesser known events. Hope all is well with everyone and I do enjoy the informative back and forth here.

Peace from Detroit Style Pride

Please keep us updated, DetroitBazaar. Also keep in mind that Detroit Synergy seems to be getting involved with various groups for various cleanup efforts all summer long.

I'm all psyched for the upcoming fireworks on the river, as my parents will be coming down for the first time since I moved down here. I'm thinking about where would be the best free spot to check them out. I was thinking the southern tip of Belle Isle, but I would imagine that will be jam packed. Anyone ever experienced them from here? Too far from the action?
