Question:

Is the building with the red colored wood going to be part of the Civic renovation? It is the building facing Division, is all boarded up and says something like "Ticket Office".

Thanks!

Yes, in fact, the buildings in that photo all the way up to the corner at Monroe Center are owned and being renovated by the Civic. Much of the interior renovations on the tan-colored building are underway or completed. It will be interesting to see what they do with the ground floor of the Botsford (red boarded up) Bldg. It's hard to tell in the artist's rendering.

Excellent...thanks for the info. That stretch will really look nice. Do we know if these renovated fronts will contain any new retail space or will the space be used by the Civic? Maybe some potential retail related to the theater arts?

Hypothetically speaking, what kind of retail would be good for that end of Monroe Center????

There will be a storefront entrance at the columns. Those doors are just there temporarily.

Does anyone know what the finish will be around the entrance doors? What is there now is pretty institutional looking. Strange staining on the columns. ???

That is an awesome view! I am also glad they are doing something with the red/green buildings on Division. They are the last example (as far as I know) of a style very prevalent in GR.

Speaking of green buildings. What was the name of the diner that was in the one-story green building on the east side of the theater (facing the park)? You can see the corner of it in the photo.

That's the Apartment Lounge bar. It was actually featured in Grand Rapids Magazine this month.
