Megaplex headed to new Pasco County Mall

A 14 screen Marquee Cinemas, along with JCPenney and Dillards (both leaving University Mall) has announced its plans to anchor the 750,000sf open air center named Shops at Wireglass. Wiregrass is located on State Road 56 at Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, in Wesley Chapel and already has a Sam's Club and a Wal-Mart Supercenter planned nearby.

The cinema at University isn't leaving. Just JCPenney and possibly Dillards.

University Mall mostly caters to an "urban" crowd now. It's probably going to struggle without those anchors. My first thoughts are that it may meet the same fate as East Lake Mall and Tampa Bay Center, but maybe not. Perhaps it might survive as shopping center, and be Tampa's version of Greenbriar Mall in ATL.
