The Shops at La Cantera is set to open this Friday. About 25% of the stores will be new to the San Antonio market.

Shops officials say their new center will have a unique mix of lush landscaping, fountains and exclusive shops. For the first time, San Antonio will have high-end retailers that can compete directly with Houston, Dallas and Austin's Barton Square Creek. The center will also give the city one more selling point as a favorite destination for tourists

An article about today's opening of the new mall.

The Shops at La Cantera, a retail village with a Texas Hill Country theme, features Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Dillard's, and other pricey stores such as Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton. The Shops will also introduce 30 new retailers to the local market.

About 90 percent of the 120 stores will open today, said Shops General Manager John Badagliacco. By Christmas, he said, the Shops should have almost all of its retailers in place.
