Drove by yesterday for the first time in a week, there seemed to be a bit more construction *edit* upturned dirt, on the esplanade site. Still a lot of work necessary to complete required scope by the city. Didn't they also have an upcoming payment due for the work that is necessary on Pine St.?

Does the people that has contract with this building being informed on why the construction is still not going in full force?

I ran into a 55W buyer in Lava last week who is actually waiting for the building to be constructed before he moves to Orlando (from the northeast US, if I remember correctly). He remains clueless as to why the project in progressing so slowly. I offered him my heartfelt condolences, of course, because it'll probably be a LONG time before he can make his move.

Nope, I bought in 55W and I am being left in the dark like a mushroom. No one at Condo HQ has any answers either.

Just spoke to Herman Bessem this morning, President of Euro American. He claims the project is a go with a new General Contractor just signed on. He also claims the city funding is in place and the permits will be signed next week. Full construction now slated to start in February, 2006. Im crossing my fingers.

Well demolition could take that long if it started today so this might be pretty good news indeed if he meant construction as in NEW construction. I take that as what the "Full Construction" meant in his quote.

I wonder if his reference to the city funding meant another extension for the incentives.

Also if a GC has been signed for the project that is also big news.

Cautiously optimistic again.....but been here before...

Yeah, I think your right Tim3167, thats how I interpret it as well. Demoition and site work on this structure is going to take at least until Feb. even if they implode the garage today.

I really don't know what he meant by full construction, I was too flabbergasted that he personally answered the general phone number (guess they fired everyone to save money ) to ask too many questions.

It said in this morning's Sentinel that Euro American Advisors has hired PLC Construction Services as the general contractor for 55 West, which is set to be completed in early 2008.

From todays Orlando Sentinel, Euro American Advisors hired PCL Construction as the new GC. The developer redesigned the building and increased the # of condo's to 405 to cover soaring construction costs. They also said the tower should be completed in early 2003
