Pickens Railway Pics from Anderson, Belton

Two Pickens U18Bs in downtown Anderson at the interchange with Norfolk Southern.

This train a few months prior is in the same location as the above train. Hurricane Francis is still ponding the area with rain.

I actually forget if the above shot is Belton or Honea Path. But this is a good example of what a shortline can do when a Class 1 railroad wants to rid itse'fof track that might not be as profitable for them. The NS leases the track to Pickens Railway. Shortline railroads can typically run a line cheaper and more economically than a big railroad.
