The link i tried to put above didn't work. Please take the quiz here.

I saw this quiz somewhere in the Southern USA forum and took it for fun. I got exactly a 50% (which the quiz called Yankee) and was intrigued by the fact that my diction was in between the north and the south just as the DC-Baltimore region is in between the north and the south. Most (though not all) people from this region consider themselves Northern, but I think you'll be surprised by this quiz as I and many of my friends were. Enjoy.

Admin Edit: Fixed the above

I think DC is fortunate to have elements of both regions of the USA.

I agree!!!

There are people around here who shun either the northern or southern aspects of the culture, but I gobble it all up and have a load of fun. :D

38% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee.

I grew up in Reston. I moved to Chicago, then Upstate NY though, and now I live in Charlotte. Living in all of those places probably skews my results

90% Dixie.

Born and raised in rural Alabama. Living in New England and the Midwest for a while doesn't seem to have changed much.

49% yankee so that makes me 51% of what? :o

Born in NJ, moved to NC at age 6, moved to Charleston, SC last summer but been in college in NJ since 2002. So i guess i am 50% yankee and 50% southern.

43% Yankee, barely in the yankee category. Born and raised in Hartford. I'm a yankee however, I am black so I use the word yall, maybe that skewed the results a little.

Any native DC people take this test? It would be interesting to see the final scoring since the DC area is the melting pot of the north and the south.

"41% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category."

I'm P**sed  I lived in Michingan for 18 years. I think they weighted these questions wrong (either that or my 8 years in the south is really starting to take it's toll. ). Oh well, it was bound to happen one day. I still say pop instead of soda though, I'm never giving that one up. :P

I guess I'm more of a yankee than you vdogg! I really don't care about this. I see north v. south very unAmerican. I wish people would just read about it as history and live as Americans not southerns and northerns!
